CLINICAL

Dr. S.M. Bose , one of the senior most surgeons of India, has more than 43 years of varied experience in the practice of surgery. His expertise is almost in all spheres of general surgery – the following will illustrate a few areas of his active clinical practice.

CANCER SURGERY

Breast Cancer – to be linked to breast cancer website Thyroid and other Endocrine organs, Colo-rectal, Hepato-pancreatic –biliary, Soft tissue . Diseases of Breast including Cosmetic Surgery for augmentation & Reduction Hepato-biliary diseases including Laparoscopic surgery Gastro-intestinal surgery Pancreatic diseases.

COLO-RECTAL

All problems including Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, Polyposis, Endocrine surgery for Thyroid, Parathyroids, Adrenals Hernia  Incisional – huge neglected ones with inlay mesh repair,ventral,Inguinal.

PILES

Stapler haemorrhoidectomy, sclerotherapy.

Have been involved in medical research since 1964.The president of India awarded Dr.S.M.Bose Silver Jubilee Award for Outstanding Research in the field of Medical & Allied Subjects

ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

Had been Head of Surgery at P.G.I, Chandigarh , the premier medical institute of India. Had been Officer-in-charge of Emergency Deptt. Of P.G.I, Chandigarh from October 1985 to retirement in 2002.

Emergency Department of P.G.I is a self sufficient department running round the clock with an out patient, indoor of 140 beds, operation theatre complex, laboratories, radiology facilities etc.

Had been Joint Medical Superintendent of Nehru Hospital(1300 bedded) attached to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, for a period of 5 years and 3 months and looked after the administration of the following:

Procurement of all the requirements of the Institute for patient care and research, namely surgical and biomedical apparatus, appliances & instruments, chemicals, furniture, linen, stationery etc.
Procurement of sophisticated equipments like Cine Angio, C.T. and ultra sound equipment, Gamma Camera, Super Computer, and other Hi-tech facilities.
Central Sterilization Supply Department.
Transport Department.
